No this is not normal. It really sounds like you are allergic to it. Does it make your throat feel swelled? I would tell your doc and stop taking it until you hear from them.

It doesn't appear to be a side effect:
SIDE EFFECTS: Tramadol is generally well tolerated, and side effects are usually transient. Commonly reported side effects include nausea, constipation, dizziness, headache, drowsiness, and vomiting.
Less commonly reported side effects include itching, sweating, dry mouth, diarrhea, rash, visual disturbances, and vertigo. Some patients who received tramadol have reported seizures. Abrupt withdrawal of tramadol may result in anxiety, sweating, insomnia, rigors, pain, nausea, diarrhea, tremors, and hallucinations.
Perhaps it's combining with something else you're taking? you might want to check with your doctor right away.

due to the fact that it is a synthetic opiate this can happen i am on tramadol also just take some benadryl and that should help it does with me!

the same thing happens to me i take tramadol it drove me insane,but if you go back to your gp the will prescribe an antihystemine for you i take piriton and it works really well.hope this helps you.
