I need to know how many times a day I give my dog the Metacam. I can not find the box with the instructions. My vet is closed for the holidays and my poor dog's back leg is acting up.

Metacam can only be given once per day and ONLY in the dosage your vet prescribed!!

Usually Metacam is once daily. Until you can get ahold of the vet, I would only give it once every other day as this is very strong stuff that can be harmful if given too much. Make sure that you are giving the appropriate dosage for your dog's weight too. If it is liquid, the syringe should be calibrated according to weight.

Just call another vet and explain that your vet is out and ask them -- you can convey the weight of the dog and can read the doseage of the med on the bottle and they can give you a recommendation as to dose -- I wouldn't consider dosing my dogs from someone on the internet's suggestion. I have seen lot of people call themselves lots of things that have very little evidence of knowledge as to what they are talking about -- and even the ones that really are can be a bit dim... check with A vet over the phone where you can interact with them. Good luck...

You should be able to safely give it once a day until you find out otherwise.
