I am not a Mormon, but my best friend is. A friend of mine told me that Mormon beliefs contradict what the Bible says. What are some Bible verses that show that Mormon beliefs are false?

None that I know of. Oh wait. Yes. We our beliefs contradict TAINTMPERED bibles, or the ones that some people have modified so it says what they want it to say.

I can't recall anything that contradicts the bible, but I might be forgetting something.

Check out mormon.org, or lds.org. It will probably say.

DON'T LISTEN TO NONMEMBERS OF THE LDS RELIGION. THEY TELL LIES ABOUT IT OR GARBLED VERSION.

My answer is No. But it depends on who you ask.... If you ask an Evangelical if the Catholic Doctrine contradicts the Bible, they would say yes and that the Evangelical doctrine does not contradict the Bible. Yet the Catholic would say the same, that the doctrine of the Catholic Church is in harmony with the Bible and that Evangelical Christianity is not. It is the same with the Mormons. We read the Bible, we are strongly encouraged to read it and memorize it. In our church meetings we go through the Bible section by section reading it, studying from it, and it's the same Bible that other Christian denominations read. The Authorized King James Version....

Most Christians would be surprised how a Mormon can go through the Bible and show many scriptures in the Bible where it teaches that a man can become like God, where it talks about Baptism for the dead. I personally don't understand how someone can believe in the Nicene Creed and also the Bible since in my opinion.

In fact, if you were to check it out, the LDS church has the best, most organized and well thought out Bibles since they have multiple foot notes for each and every verse tying verses together with other verses found in different parts of the Bible. It also has an extensive Bible Dictionary in the back which gives definitions and commentary on many key and important Bible words, and it has a very extensive topic guide which allows you to study by looking up a topic and finding dozens of verses that match that topic. I've never seen another Bible it. Yet the words are the same as in any other church that uses the King James version...

So in short, Mormon Doctrines do not contradict the Bible as I read it and understand it. But since an Evangelical reads the same Bible and understands it very differently, our beliefs would contradict his interpretation of the Bible. Mormons love the Bible and embrace it. The Old testament talks about the organization of our church in the last days and the gathering of Israel. Our temple ceremonies are found in the Old Testament... I think it is ignorance for someone to say their interpretation of the Bible is the only correct one. If it were that clear, there would not be so many different sects of Christianity...

I am Mormon and can share with you numerous Biblical passages that support Mormon doctrine, support the Mormon notion of the godhead, support all things Mormon. Why do not all churches believe the same as Mormons then? It is because many people interpreted the Bible differently. Why do we have so many Christian denominations that teach different doctrine? take baptism for example. There are those that teach baptism by complete immersion, some that teach it is done by merely sprinkling water on you, and those denominations that teach that you do not need baptism at all. Why such confusion? It is because of all the ways that Bible passages can be interpreted.

If you want to know about Mormonism, or any other denomination. I would recommend going directly to that particular denomination and seek answers directly. Non-Mormon sources are NOT going to be accurate, just as any non origin sources would not be.

It is best to drink from the water's source, than trying to drink downstream. Go to the source.

For accurate info on Mormons, ask a Mormon. For accurate info on Methodists, ask a Methodist, etc.

The beliefs and teachings of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints does not contradict the Bible in any way.

They do, however, contradict what many other individuals and faiths THINK the Bible says.

i'm a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. I actual have heard each and every final between the flaws that are spred around with regard to the church. I actual have an information that the concern that folk say are actually not genuine in any way in any respect and that the sole reason that those difficulty are going around with regard to the LDS church is by the fact human beings do not want to beleve in it. there replaced right into a time for me that it replaced into perplexing to beleve the flaws that I have been taught, like the certainty that the church replaced into restored by potential of a 14 yearold boy in ny., or that the e book of mormon replaced into translated not written yet trancelated by potential of that very same boy from the gold plates. yet I actual have wittensed what the LDS church has accomplished for my existence and the existence of my kin, I actual have seen mericals take place precise in front of me and that i comprehend that the flaws that I beleve are genuine although they might look silly at situations to others exterior of the LDS church i comprehend that they are genuine and there is not a single man or woman that would exchange my recommendations in this, no rely what they are asserting approximately me or with regard to the flaws that I beleve.

Your other friend is not correct. The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints use the Bible to confirm their beliefs. People who know nothing about the Church try to convince everyone that we don't use the Bible, or that we use a different Bible. We use the King James Version of the Bible, and we have every single verse, chapter, and book that the Baptist Bible, or the Methodist Bible, or the Episcopalian Bible has.

No the mormon bible does not contridict the bible. Its fiction like alot of the stories in the bible. The differnce is that the bible is based on historical facts. Towns and people in the bible are proven to have existed by other anicent sources and archeology.

The problem with The book of mormon is that it is easliy proven to be historiclly incorrect....Isrealites did not come across from isreal to America during 600bc, there were no battles in New York State in 400AD.

The bible is harder to disprove because it was written at least 1500 years ago and is primarily based in fact with some extradonary events. the book of mormon is around 200 years old and is not based on factual places or people...besides the Joe Smith

There are none. Check out the book "A Marvelous Work and a Wonder" by LeGrand Richards. Excellent way to see how the Bible only proves our beliefs.

As you can tell from what other people have been saying, there are so many different answers to this simple question you have asked. So, how do you know who to believe and who to trust? You can take what everyone here has said, think about it yourself, and then come up with your own conclusion... but that still is not enough. The Lord strongly states, "Thus saith the LORD; Cursed be the man that trusteth in man, and maketh flesh his arm" - Jeremiah 17:5. It's good to talk to those around us, and to learn from other people's wisdom, but when there are so many contradicting opinions placed on one thing, there has to be a better way to find an answer. We cannot trust in man alone.

"If any of you lack wisdom, let him ask of God, that giveth to all men liberally, and upbraideth (or scorns) not; and it shall be given him, but let him ask in faith, nothing wavering." - James 1:5-6.

I have grown to love this scripture and have found it to be true in my own life. If I ever have a question, and I sincerely go to God with this question, I have always received an answer. He is my Father, I am his child, and so are you (Romans 8: 16-17). He wants to answer our prayers and the questions of our hearts. I'm sure you know this, but sometimes it is nice to be reminded. When it comes to asking questions about religion, you will always find contradictory answers. You can literally take the same verse of scripture out of the Bible to a Catholic, Baptist, Lutheran, Mormon, Pentacostal, and any other Christian and ask their opinion, and it is not uncommon to get a different interpretation from each person. That is why people say Mormons do not believe the Bible, because they interpret it differently than Mormons do.

I am a 'Mormon.' I believe the Bible with all my heart. The scriptures that I have used above are from the Bible. Words are contained in it that have been revealed from God for our benefit, and God wants us to read and study it so that we might come to know Him (John 17:3). I also believe that the Book of Mormon is the Word of God. It too was written by prophets, not in Jerusalem, but in the America's for the same purpose as the Bible. I have read both of these books several times, deeply, and I know that they do not contradict each other. I have tried to find contradictions. When others have 'found' contradictions, it has been because of negligence on their part. If you ask any of the people who have responded to this question with things that show how the Book of Mormon contradicts the Bible, ask them if they have read the Book of Mormon, not just bits and pieces, but the whole thing. Most (if not all) of them have not read the Book of Mormon. Because they chose not to read it themselves, they have placed their trust in man and man's understanding.

The Book of Mormon teaches of how it will come forth at a time where it is needed, to confirm what the Bible teaches, and to convince all men, everywhere, that Jesus is the Christ, the Son of God, and that all men who come unto Him will receive eternal life. (Book of Mormon, 2 Nephi, chapter 29).

The answer to your question will not be a simple one that any of us will be able to answer completely. The best thing you can do is to read BOTH the Bible AND the Book of Mormon. Compare these things yourself, but do not do this without involving God in this process. He will lead you and guide you. God is not dead. He lives, He loves us, and He DOES answer our prayers.

So in short, read these two books yourself, and compare them, and do this with a prayer in your heart. When you are surrounded by different voices telling you that they are the ones that are right, remember to trust not in man, but trust in God. He will tell you if the Book of Mormon contradicts the Bible, and likewise, He will tell you if it is true through His Spirit. Pay attention to the Fruits of the Spirit (Galatians 5:22) for this is how the Lord answers our prayers. Trust Him. The best of luck to you. And know that if the Book of Mormon is true, it will only bring you closer to Christ. It has done that for me. God bless you.

actually if you read the new testament you will see what we believe and do, as we follow the original teachings that Jesus Taught. the two great commandments, love the Lord Thy God with all thy heart, might, mind and soul. the second is like unto it, love thy neighbor as thy self, on these two great commandments hang the law and the prophets. we follow both as best we can.

Do you want a very true answer. Their First leader Joseph Smith made up the book of Mormon, they believe in the Bible (they say) if it is translated corectly!! What?? that mean they pick out bits and parts. They sugar coat everything and stear clear of the real issues. They have a VERY Fishy past, with alot of made up stuff. What they do in their Temple is VERY weird (personal expierance) and after the temple they are too wear special underwear! (garments) Bet they dont tell you all this on the first visit to your door!!Anyone that has been exposed to this and relizes the truth wants to help others to NEVER get involved in this!! Scary

Ps its not the people that I hate its the acts that they condone!!
