Apples to oranges?? I own many Remington and Mossberg rifles and shotguns.

Here is my humble opinion.

Shotguns:
There is not a Mossberg pump gun made to equal the 870 Wingmaster, period.
That said, I wouldn't hesitate to carry a Mossberg shotgun any time, any where.
The 870 Express and the Mossberg 500 are very comparable.
For tactical shotgun compitition I prefer the Mossberg because I don't have to push the round past the elevator. I can carry a small handful and drop them in and push with my thumb. It is a little quicker.

Old Mossberg .22 rifles are VERY hard to beat. Of all of the .22s I own, my all time favorite is an old Mossberg 46M-B. I giggle every time I take it out.

I also have an old medium bull barrel Mossberg target rifle that will match most any modern custom match rifle. Yes, I've prooved it many times.

In larger caliber rifles the Rem 700 ADL or BDL are far superior to any Mossberg.

Just my 2c.

I think if they were giving them away free, the Remington 870's would be long gone and some of the Mossbergs would be left. They are both decent shotguns, but to be honest, I never heard of anyone that owned a Remington 870 first that would trade it on a Mossberg..... But it is after all a matter of personal choice and what you can afford........

I have a Remington 770 series rifle in .270 that I love, can't beat it for the money. I also have a Mossberg 100 ATR 30-06 that i just bought this year, I shot a doe with it in rifle season.

I would prefer the Remington Shotguns, i have a Remington 870 express 12 gauge. It's a great weapon, i have 2 of them, one of them i've had for years, it's been through everything I can think of and still going strong, the only reason I bought the second one is because I got a good deal on it so why not lol.

Mossberg shotguns don't impress me too much, they really seem to be cheap made and they seem like they'll fall apart in your hand.

Remington definetely. Our department uses the Remington 870 shotgun and they just dont break. All Remingtons are double action rails and built to take abuse. Also, a Remington will keep a much higher resale value. I hope this helps.
