I've posted this question once before with some good responses but everybody had a different idea. This was given to me along with a cookbook dated 1957. They aren't necessarily related but might give a little perspective.

The red crescent makes me believe it has to be Turkish. But could also be Pakistan or Uzbekistan.

I doubt it has any connection with the Islamic Red Crescent society (same as the Red Cross)

Can you verify if the helmet is made out of a plastic compound and has a rubber "edge"?

If so its NOT a military helmet but one issued to a Civil Defence or Red Cross / crescent worker, who have to work near unstable buildings, etc, etc and NOT a military related item.

You might also show a picture of the inside as well.

Looks like a Cold War-era Turkish Army helmet.

Does it have a chin strap? It looks like a civilian hard hat or converted to a civilian hard hat. NATO forces, even Turkey, had basically the same helmet that the U.S. used. The cresents are missing the star suggesting it's not some Muslim military force.

Very difficult to ascertain. I need pics of the inside please. To be honest, the lid looks like a building site hard hat as it has seems to be flat on the bottom.
Is it a metal helmet or fibre? Whatever further info you can supply would be of great assistance.
