...in what ways do you think the other candidates would use this against him or her? Or do you think that it wouldn't be much of an issue at all?

If the republicans are willing to crucify Romney over being a Mormon, they would rip a Pagan candidate to shreds.

Take a look below at how a right wing organization responded to a Pagan elected to a local office.

Wouldn't be much of an issue because the pagan would be in last place in the polls anyway. And no other candidate would "go after" the pagan because there would be no need too.

Btw, saying the pagan would be in last place in the polls is just reality, not a slam.

Well I think a Satanist would actually be a better candidate than some Christian freak. I would vote for that over another religious psycho.
Seriously though, Dennis D's wife is a New Ager. She is into the crystal thing, in addition to several other New Age arts. I think that would be great as a First Lady. But I doubt it would fly....neither would a witchy candidate.
The religious extremists have this country by the nuts. Literally.

I think the candidate would have to worry about the media - the play that would be given there. Of course it would be an issue - after all look at all the shows such as Angel, Buffy, and Charmed that portray different kinds of pagan lifestyles.

As a Christian, I would be upset if it wasn't especially if that candidate had plans for eliminating things such as "In God We Trust" off our currency and replacing it with a pagan slogan.

I think the other candidates might suggest paganism is intellectually underdeveloped and thus it's adherents may be the same. I mean, who is the Soren Kierkegaard or Moses Maimonides of paganism?

just as much as an issue as what sect of Christianity a canidate, and yes, they would have a very hard time getting past the their beliefs wjen questioned wether or not they should be elected. Many would not vote for that person on that basis alone.

I would think it would be the issues that are important, not his religious affiliations! Of course, like always, they will use that and anything else against him/her because smear campaigns seem to be the deal of the day when it comes to politics!

I think the term "satanist" might be thrown around a little by people... but the candidates wouldn't dare attack it.

They wouldn't have to, the American public would do all the questioning. Just look at what Kennedy had to do and what Romney will have to do.

If they took a shot at it, it would prove one thing and one thing only....

They don't have a plan, thus they're reduced to degredation in order to deflect the attention away from themselves and their slap-shod policies and plans.

.......So glad I live in Canada right now. At least our political debates are 'somewhat' more intelligent than that.
