I have a 1600 x 1200 crt monitor. Do I need anything else apart from a hdmi to dvi cable and will it work properly?

I do not understand how all other ppl who used their CRT monitor with HDMI-to-DVI without having HDCP built-in in their monitor. As my understanding CRT doesn't come with HDCP chipset built-in, therefore you could not get any video signal.

Only way to solve it is to get a medium to do HDCP enable for you - GameSwitch. Which you need to connect it between your HDMI device and your DVI CRT monitor. This way you will get video, and audio could be connected through 3.5mm jack through GameSwitch and to your external speaker.

You may find GameSwitch in Australia here...

your good to go. but the image will come out looking very very weird. your monitor is in the 4:3 aspect ratio and the PS3 outputs in the 16:9 aspect ratio. your image will come out looking squeezed together and tall, or it could be cropped.

i have tried it with my Sony HS95 monitor, looks good but not recommended.

Answers above are great, I'll add, that DVI doesn't support sound, sound should be plugged separately.
