How long is a string? Vetrinary malpractice costs about $250 a year.
Cost is going to depend on the type of specialty, years of retro date covered by the claims made date, limit, area, prior claims, numbers of hours worked, which hospitals allow priveleges, etc.

The cost varies widely depending on specialty. Also, about pathology- most of your patients aren't dead, they're very much alive. A pathologist provides diagnoses for biopsies and resections and so is subject to lawsuit if these diagnoses are believed to be incorrect.

For an OB/GYN specialist, over $100K annually, if even available. For pathology, next to zero, since the patients are already deceased.
Are you finally getting the picture here ?
