The dream was that I was watching a plane fall apart and crash, it was only a light aircraft. In the next couple of weeks I am going to have to catch a plane home. Is this a bad sign?

I very well could be. I've had one and only one plane crash dream in my life, and two weeks later it happened (go to the link below if you want to read it). I have to ask, have you ever had any plane-type dreams before?
Alternatively, I could be you're anxious about flying, if you don't like to fly.
It's really up to you, how to take it. For me, I'm leary about plane dreams.

I doubt it strongly, but you may be concerned about the plane ride, and perhaps your mind translated this into the dream you had. I wouldn't worry about it too much.

I doubt that it's an omen unless you've had dreams before that have come true

it could be. if i were you, i would avoid an airplane for the moment.
but it could also be that your nervous about the flight.
is it your first time?if not, it could mean nothing.
