OK its simple you just sign the title and have the new owner sign and date it then give a receipt for what it sold for and you both sign it and you are not liable for what happens after that

Here in Arizona the DMV has a website that you just put in your VIN number, click the box that says you sold the vehicle and hit send. It give you a confirmation to print.

If your DMV doesn't have the same thing then definitely go to their offices. You don't want to be liable for something the new owner does with your sold vehicle.

My son bought a used car and didn't have the money to get a new plate right away. The DMV sold him a temporary license for less than $10.

Go to your local DMV (tag agency) office and talk to them. They can help you with the papers you need to make it official that you no longer own or are responsible for the vehicle. Also make sure you've canceled your insurance on it.

..Yes..I remember in "California" there was this small yellow form that was filled in upon sale which said the vehicle was sold at this date to "Above" with "So many miles" So if the other person was involved in an accident...You would not be held responsible......."Something to that nature"..Contact your local DMV..They would help you...The DMV here in Nevada has a very helpful website..they answer E-Mails promptly!!
