this pain has been checked with an ultra sound scan which showed inflamation in the area of the appendix but because i did not display the a-typical symptoms associated with appendicitus was treated for pelvic inflamitory infection and prescribed 3 types of antibiotic for 10days eventually the pain died down but about 10 weeks later the pain has returned and has lasted now for about 3 weeks twice during that time the pain has defied even the morphine i take for joint pain. my dr has given me anti spasm drugs to rule out that cause which has helped with some minor tenderness i did not even realise i had but has had no effect on the pain i have described is it possible for the appendix to grumble without going on to burst if left untreated i have a slight temperature up between 1 to 1.5 degree c and am suffering with nausea and sometimes vomiting how can you tell if your appendix is in danger of bursting. what i eat does not seem to make a difference so can i rule out gall bladder

Your gallbladder's more in the upper left quadrant of your abdomen instead of the lower left where your appendix is. Pain from appendicitis will usually range from the middle of the lower quadrants to the lower left.

I'm guessing that you're a female so your doctor would have to rule out acute salpingitis, ectopic pregnancy(you never know heh), and ruptured cyst of the corpus luteum. There's also the chance of perforated peptic ulcers, acute cholecystitis, gastro-enteritis, Crohn's disease, and acute diverticulitis (these are Intra-abdominal diseases).

Have your doctor(s) rule these out first before pointing to appendicitis. Even if it is appendicitis, it could be only acute due to the illensses above.

Fever, nausea, vomiting, pain in lower, lower R side.

You need to do one of two things: get the appendix out, and have the surgeon look around while he's there to see if anything else in the region is inflamed, necrotic or infected; OR get a new dr. and get a new opinion.

Personally, I would not fool with appendicitis. If it bursts, the crud in and around it is going to spread all over in your abdominal cavity, and getting all of it out will be difficult. Your body may react to that crud, you may need a second operation, or you may just die of the infection after all the antibiotics you've taken quit working on this specific infection.
That's worst case scenario and why I would get on the stick about this illness.
