I used to smoke & love my coffee ~ and my teeth show it :(

I would love to whiten them for my wedding, but don't have dental insurance. What is the best product I can use at home? I'm not getting married until April, so I've got some time.

If you *do* or *do not* like a particular product, can you please say why? Thanks :)

Seriously? Baking soda? Wow, I had no idea something so inexpensive & old fashioned would do the trick! LOL!

Strawberries are one of the best/cheapest products to buy. There are celebrities that only use strawberries to whiten their teeth. All you need is one strawberry a night or morning. Brush your teeth, and then rub the strawberry on your teeth like you would your toothbrush. Trust me it works.

Crest Whitening stripes work just as well as the treatments at the dentist for only $30.00 and you can usually get a coupon online for them.

Here's one I found online for you - $5.00 off.

Crest whitening strips are amazing!
While you use those try buying and using a whitening tooth paste. ive done those and chewed whitening tooth paste for years no and my teeth remained very white..

If you want a natural way to whiten try
You need:
1 ripe strawberry
1/2 teaspoon baking soda

Directions: Crush the strawberry to a pulp, then mix with the baking powder until blended. Use a soft toothbrush to spread the mixture onto your teeth. Leave on for 5 minutes, then brush thoroughly with toothpaste to remove the berry–baking soda mix. Rinse. (A little floss will help get rid of any strawberry seeds.) Carrel says you can apply once a week.

***Be careful not to use this too often, though, as the acid could damage the enamel on your teeth

The secret to this inexpensive home whitening method is malic acid, which acts as an astringent to remove surface discoloration. Combined with baking soda, strawberries become a natural tooth-cleanser, buffing away stains from coffee, red wine, and dark sodas.

I did t hat while preg..

good luck!

There are a couple things you can do that have worked for me. Avoid dark pops & coffee drinks- both stain your teeth. If you don't want to use the Crest White Strips-- which do work... I use a Listerine Whitening Mouthwash that doesn't come with the same side effects (i.e. sensitive gums) as the white strips. Be careful no matter what you do-- the enamel on your teeth is super sensitive!

I've heard that Crest White Strips are good.

I know you mentioned not dealing with a dentist. As an FYI - Most dental insurance wouldn't cover whitening anyway.

If you are anywhere near a britesmile spa and are willing to splurge on the cost, you may want to consider this option. It is not cheap, but I got in on a sale offer for only $299. I am a big coffee drinker and I found this to be soooo worth every single penny to walk in with yellow teeth and out with white teeth. It really did only take an hour and they took before and after pics so you could see the difference yourself.
I know this sounds like a sales pitch, but I'm just a very happy customer who didn't want to wait and deal with days of tooth sensitivity and I was willing to pay for it.

You can quickly and inexpensively whiten your teeth by brushing them with some baking soda. Just put a little on your toothbrush when it's wet and brush. It lacks a lot in the flavor category, but it will work like a charm and it cleans as it whitens.

Just be forewarned that anytime you use an abrasive product such as pure baking soda, you can further roughen the surface of your teeth, making stains even worse and more likely. Stains set in areas of the tooth where the surface is not completely smooth. A good removal by the dentist is well worth the money in the long run.

If you want to do this the cheap and helthiest way then use peroxide. every time you brush your teeth rinse your mouth with a cap full of peroxide for a minute. This will whiten your teeth slowly over time but you will see a difference in a week or so. This does a lot more than whiten your teeth killing the germs that do lots of other harm to you. A buck for a big bottle.

Strawberries. They are natural teeth whitener.
crush some up in a bowl and brush away. The little seeds act as a gentle abrasive but not as harsh as bleach or silica used in commercial teeth whiteners. Plus, they taste good.
