Nope and nope.
No soul, nothing supernatural. Nothing but hard determinism here!

This more than likely is in no way an answer to your initial question, but when I read it, a line from a movie I haven't seen for over ten years (Demon Knight w/ Billy Zane) popped in there, the part where Billy Zane said to the people inside the house, "You're not worth the flesh you're printed on". Strange. What the hell, I can't say why that popped in there, but it did. I think it was the part of your question "a soul implanted" that did it for some reason. Have a pleasant evening.

Its supernatural.
DNA blueprints our bodies, But our Energy is created from a supernatural power. You can make a robot but you cant make a soul.
But how much do we really know yet?

While my answer does not represent mainstream Christianity, I think the bible is clear that there is no soul apart from the body. God breathed the breath of life into the body of Adam and Adam became a living soul.
