Columbus Day

Although why the US does it I have no idea because he discovered Bahamas. Not a lot of people from the Caribbean like to celebrate that day, they would rather forget it. If anything there should be a Viking Day as it has been proven that Vikings were actually in Canada 400 years earlier.

Officially called Columbus Day, October 12th celebrates the "discovery" of indigenous North American cultures and the subsequent enslavement and genocide of those cultures by Europeans.
Some people (myself included) refer to the day as "Genocide Day".

I agree with NWIP, but why not call it St. Brendan's day? He discovered it before the Vikings.
