...that people will judge a religion (Christianity, Judaism, Islam, Buddhism, etc.) based on fanatics, and not realise that almost all promote beautiful morals, ethics, and community?

It just bothers me...

It's not what you say, it's what you DO that gives people their impressions about your religion.

Actions speak louder than words.

As a Christian I know the importance of practising what I preach. What I DO will tell the world what I believe in.

In every religion there are those fanatics who spoil the name of the religion, that is true. Then, what should the answer be? Let the moderates speak against the extremists and make restitution for the wrongs that have been done...instead of going into DENIAL and keep defending their actions as justified because their religion allows it!

"Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works, and glorify your Father which is in heaven." (Matthew 5:16 KJV)

I don't think it's sad. Because when you judge the religion by the people in it, it's because the religion is what made the people the way that they are. I used to be a forced christian, then I got old enough to make up my own mind, and decided to leave the cult (yes, I called it a cult)

You know what's ironic? They say Christians are evil, and religious people are hypocrites; yet somehow they think they would all be better people without religion. The real humor is in the fact they believe they are suppose to be considered Christian or religious, when proven otherwise.

Way to go atheist, judge all the wrong we do, forget all the good things. We'll never judge you. You're perfect.

They tend to forget we are all human, dun dun dun! I agree, it's over the top pathetic on how narrow minded people can be. We all make mistakes, it's a matter of what one does to fix it, and how we go about it. Like some blame it on others and point fingers. I think common sense is slipping away, I know mine is.

Many religions do encourage morals and values and brotherly love, however, Jesus Christ is the Way and the Light. The Only Path to salvation is with Him.

While I agree with you that some "religions" promote goodness, there is only one way to eternal life, and that is by accepting the atonement of Jesus Christ for one's sins. No one is "good" based on their own merits, it is only through the shed blood of Christ that reconciles us back to God when we accept and believe.

It bothers me too. Generalizations are never a good thing. It's a tool for the ignorant.
