I started making my own dog food after just finding out that Iams canned dog food almost killed one of my dogs. It was like she was being poisoned.

I would like a list of vegetables that are good for dogs. So far I have used frozen peas, fresh shredded carrots and frozen green beans. Any other veggies I can incorporate with the meat?

I make my own dog food.

3 lbs of grounded meat
2 cups of mixed frozen veggies
1 cup of uncooked rice

Cook them all seperately regularly and then mix together. I put them in individual zip lock bags and freeze them. I put like a cup in 1 bag.

My dog is so much healthier now, has more energy, and acts friendlier now that I switched her food. I had several vets check it out and they said that was fine and no concerns for it! I make this once everyother week. It gets to be much but I feel its worht it!

Thank god you saw the light!
These canned foods are killing our animals all the time!
Most vegies are good for dogs.
Shredded carrots are good for some bulk.
Don't forget some boiled rice will help too.
No corn cobs, they're poisonous.
My dog absolutely loves capsicums!
Make sure she gets plenty of calcium, even get a calcium supplement if need be.
Always give her fresh meat of a quality that you would eat.
It really doesn't work out any more expensive than those ridiculously pricy specialist brands!
Add a bit of pasta too.

Ignore what lynxnut said - onions will kill your dog!

I cook for my dogs and they love most vegetables - with the exception of onions and corn. They love squash of all kinds, zucchini (raw), turnips, cauliflower, brussel sprouts, broccoli - only lightly steamed so you don't lose the nutrients.

But if you're feeding your dog home made totally, you really should be aware of their complete nutritional needs. There's an excellent book (I use the recipes) by Dr. Pitcairn called "Complete Guide to Natural Health for Dogs and Cats".

He gives recipes, lists all the supplements, vitamins you might use and exactly what each one is good for, as well as the amounts to use.

No NO No no onion!!!!! ever
just about any veggie will work for a dog.
However, keep in mind that their systems are not geared to properly break down the fibers in fresh fruits and vegetables to extract their nutritional value. You need to steam and/or puree the veggies before you give them to your dog, otherwise whole pea go in, whole peas come out.
I feed raw and homemade and I give my dog "veggie glop", i.e.:steam vegetables ( green beans, peas, carrots, greens like kale or mustard greens or cabbage, cukes, squash, just about anything available.) I go light on the corn 'cause it's fattening.
whole eggs ( not just whites or yolks the whole thing)
a little ginger for flavor and digestion.
the water from steaming, run-off from defrosting meat.
puree whole mess in a blender or food processor.
put "glop" into muffin tins and freeze
when frozen put "muffins" in plastic bag in freezer and give one with a meal.
You can of course do this on a one meal basis but I find making big batch in advance saves time and money.
Hope this helps. Good luck and remember NO ONIONS!!!!!!
Oh just as an aside: dogs don't need carbs.

No onions and no peppers! Both are very bad for dogs. Sweet potatoes, carrots, spinach, broccoli, and green beans are mainly what I give my dogs. Blueberries and cranberries are good for them too. My Lab used to eat oranges and apples as well whenever I had one. She would even eat pickles. My boys are much pickier and I have to hide the veggies under gravy.

II make my own dog food too. I use ground meat, oatmeal, frozen collard greens and shredded carrots. They are so much healthier and better looking! Some people say you shouldn't cook the meat, but I do. Once in a while I'll give them raw meat.

DO NOT use onions. Onions can kill a dog.

Broccoli is good, dogs tend to LOVE carrots. I know my dog loves raw baby carrots as a treat. Celery is a great food for dogs, one of the best for them.

Most veggies are good for dogs. Stay away from corn, avocado and onions. Onions are poisonous to dogs. Cooked sweet potatoes are a good choice for dogs.

My dog eats anything I eat! When I have a roast, I give her the left overs, Beef, Carrots, Cauliflower, Broccoli, Gravy, anything she will eat, anything will be better than dog food.
