I know people who have 20/20 vision so how can I tell what I have?

20/20 vision indicates the size line you can see on the vision chart. You can't tell this from the prescription.

My husband is about this script and has better than 20/20 vision (20/15).

The prescription merely indicates how inaccurate the focussing system of your eye is. The health of the retina determines how clearly you can see - and the vision measurement gives you that information.

Your optometrist would have measured it - you could give them a call and ask!

You can't calculate your vision from your contact lens specs.

Do you mean your vision with contacts on or contacts off? Either way, you will have to ask your eye doctor to actually measure your acuity and tell you.

You can go to the doctors office and ask, im not sure if they will make you pay though. Or any Optometrists office has an eye chart, and you can check next time you go.

That information can be had from a visual acuity test.
