What do you get when you combine a phony smile and an over priced suit?..... Joel Osteen

How many of you who sooo quickly bash Joel have EVER stepped foot into Lakewood? I for one attend Lakewood and know what Joel preaches and how much of an income he DOES NOT take from the church! Until you have been there you might want to get your facts straight before you start your bashing. Kudos to the responder that stated that Joel has NEVER asked for money on air as this is the TRUTH as well as the fact that he does NOT take an income from the church!

And please just remember that NO ONE is perfect!!

Joel Osteen only acts like a preacher....he is NOt. He is merely a motivational speaker and not very Biblical at that. Oh and yes VERY DEEP POCKETS.

Look into Osteen. Compare his words with that of basic Christian doctrine.
He runs from it as he has no conviction of it.
Just goes to show, not always are the right people in the right positions.

unless I see his pockets or bank statement I wouldnt know. He doesnt ask for money and promise miracles...your donations are your choice. I myself have never donated. I have seen shows where the sun, moon and stars are promised if you donate money NOW....those are scams. I just feel bad for people who poor there savings into these...cause all there left with is a empty hope and broke.

I don't like Joel Osteen because I dissagree with a lot of his preaching. However, if I understand correctly, he doesn't take a dime from his church members, he earns his money with his books and media. That's impressive. I have a lot of respect for that.

He has NEVER asked for money on air. To my knowledge, People Magazine doesn't pay for stories. He does accept royalties from his book, but donates much of it to charities, from what i understand. Rick Warren donates ALL his royalties to charity, and lives on 10% of his income.

I agree he is "Bible lite" but he reluctantly took over after his father died suddenly, and has done his best. Our church used Live Your Best Life Now in a small group and it was very well received.

most likely, unfortunately. I do like to listen to him occasionally. he makes sense.. I guess even if he isn't living by his own wisdom, as some have said, atleast he's passing it on, and reaching a lot of people in the process.
