No, your employer is not required to pay you for any days you did not work, unless you have something in writing from the employer that says otherwise.

This applies to California.

There is no requirement that an employer pay an employee for days when the business is not open.

However, there are some laws which govern how salaried exempt employees must be paid - for example, if the company is closed for an entire week, it is legal to force employees to take vacation time or no pay. If the company is closed for part of a week, a salaried employee is paid on a weekly basis and must be paid the same amount every week, so most companies pay the regular pay. If you are paid on a salaried basis, check with your HR dept. Otherwise you're out of luck - sorry..... :(

No, they are not required to pay you by law. Now, if it is in your employee handbook or was on one of the documents that you signed when you hired in, that Christmas Eve is a paid holiday, then they need to pay you (if you are an active employee).
