Try to put your heart into it. Have a sense of work ethic. When I got my first job, my dad told me to always do my best- if I was a floor mopper than I should be the best damn floor mopper there was and be proud of the job I do no matter what it is. Think of the people that will benefit from the job you do, and how you appreciate it when people you need do their jobs well. How would you feel if your waitress did her job badly? Or your doctor? or your mechanic? You'd probably be pretty pissed right? Pay attention, do little extras when you can, and always make sure you do your absolute best! People notice when you are kicking azz at your job...

I think you already know the answer to your question. If you want to keep your job, pay attention to details. If someone else has to follow up because you aren't following through, then you need to double check everything you do. Be more organized and follow the necessary protocol to complete a job. This is true for all points of life frankly. If you are sloppy at work, you probably are sloppy with your own life. It shows you don't care about what you are doing. Re-evaluate your entire situation and make the changes. You know what you should be doing. Find out why you choose not to do them.

Every time you do something, before you submit it, look it over for accuracy. It's worth spending the extra minute or two.

It's very likely that in doing so, you'll find a pattern in the things that you forget, and after fixing them a few times, it will become habit for you to not forget them anymore.

Work more carefully. Do not allow yourself to be distracted from the task at hand. Work more slowly and MAKE time to proofread or double-check your work.
