Hi guys. I'm flying alone, tomorrow, to go visit my family. I am 13, but I am scared...of the whole thing! I mean I am smart enough to know what to do but still.

I fly alone every year. Im fourteen and have been doing this since age 5!
its actually FUN!
depending on your airline and how far your going and how long your flight is, you should get used too it within the first hour or two of your flight!
but make sure you bring what you need to keep yourself busy! try things like drawing, tracing, magazines, or my alltime favorite, eat 3 energy bars, drink a few monsters and attempt to sit still as long as possible! haha no dont do that! but seriously, taking off can be scary or fun! I find that i usually love it, but one year, i saw red eye or some movie like that were i was afriad of planes for like 3 months. problem was, i had to fly on one the day after i saw it! so i dont recomend doing that. please have fun. think of everything positive when you get scared. have a romantic friend? a crush on someone? anything like that? try thinking about that person when you get nervous and it will make things easier. i find that if i take dramamine or melatonin i can sleep the whole time and wake up to "welcome to fort lauderdale florida" after landing. if your really nervous try that. it helps a bunch. if you get super nervous, and you dont know if you can take it, talk to a flight attendant that seems like he or she had a good day. they are fun to talk to. also other fun things to do are knitting [even guys can do this! haha] listening to music, if your flying jetblue there are mini tvs for each seat, turn the wireless on your phone OFF and play games on your phone, draw, think, sleep, write music, write stories, try drinking sprite or ginger ale if you feel like your getting sick. have a safe flight! im flying out on wednesday, and im sorta nervous to!! HAVE FUN

Are you going to be flying as an Unaccompanied Minor? If you are you will be well taken care of. A parent can usually go through security with you. You will the be walked to the plane by an employee and handed off to the flight attendent. At your destination you can usually have the person picking you up come in through security. There is really nothing you need to figure out on your own.

If you are not going as an Unaccompanied Minor, you can still ask any employee what to do and they will be happy to help. Just don't ever wanted off too far from your gate.

One thing that might help is to know most adults feel the same way you do. Most people are nervous/unsure at airports. Working at an airline I have seem lots of confused people.

Yeah I can understand why that'd be scary. Im still pretty scared when Im flying alone especially to new places because airports can be super confusing places! Then theres the plane ride which can be a bit nerve wracking if you're the slightest bit scared but the more you fly it gets better and odds are once you're on the plane you'll start to enjoy yourself. Its just an adventure and flying alone is really exhilarating.

Flying alone can be a little scary, but don't worry because the flight attendants and airport personnel are very freindly and willing to help. Just be patient when you're waiting in those long lines to get through security. Have a great flight and Merry Christmas!

I've done it for years.... You'll be fine!.... Just dont take crap from the airline people and act like an adult! Get their early so you dont have to rush to your flight and bring food!
