In the following sentence, how would I format the quote from Dali? (punctuation, indentation, et cetera)

When Dali was quoted saying I am Surrealism, I cannot imagine he knew how accurate he was.

Thanks!

and Happy Christmas.

Well, first, if it is a formal, MLA formatted essay, you should avoid using first person. Try the following:

When Dali was quoted as saying, "I am Surrealism," he could not have imagined how accurate he was being. (cite source, page)

There is a great number of variants to write an essay and process it correctly. Speaking about MLA, once I wrote such an essay. What I remember about it is that end notes according to mla essay format must come on a separate page, listing the cited page of the work.

When Dali was quoted saying, "I am Surrealism," I cannot imagine he knew how accurate he was.

Right after the second set of quotation marks, put, in parentheses, the last name of the author of whatever source you found this quotation in, then the page number. And make sure that source is in your bib. cards. (Maybe I didn't need to say this.)
