What would be the point of preparing for an afterlife? This has to be one of the silliest ideas ever. Contemplate for a moment about the origins of a persons soul. If they came from the "afterlife" then why would they need to come here? Just to return to the afterlife? That's like going outside in the rain so that you can come back inside and enjoy the warmth of home. Why would a deity that loved you send you outside in the rain, especially if there was a chance you wouldn't make it back (like, oh, being "tricked by Satan")? No, the purpose for humans is the same for every other living species on this planet, to ensure it's genes survive. Everything else is a means of making that happen, or just plain filler.

I'm fully sure that this life as we know it, is only phase 2 of our eternal existence.
The first being the time we spend inside the womb.

Think about it; while we're inside own mother's womb, we hear voices from the outside world, and soon we'll join that world but during the time we're inside the womb, we have NO clue what lies on the "other side".
People may even speak to you while we're still in the developing state; perhaps telling you about your brothers and sisters, what you can look forward to as you get older etc...
But let's face it, because you have NO frame of reference there inside your womb, if you could thank, you would probably wonder what the heck is a brother, or a sister? What's a bike, and what's school?
But never the less once you are born; you leave the only kind existence you once knew for the next; like it or not.
So is the same with the next phase; like it or not...

I believe that our purpose is to make the best of what we can while we are here. Consistantly trying to prepare for the afterlife, and you will miss out on so many things that are here to enjoy. Although our survival is paramount, and understanding what your beliefs are for the afterlife are important, I feel that the number one purpose is to enjoy what you have been given, and make the best of every day.

Why does our perpose have to be one of those two things? In fact why can't our purpose be different for every single one of us. I bet Newton thought his purpose was to discover how evolution worked (or at least seemed to work). I expect Ceaser (Roman leader) thought his purpose was to expand the Roman empire. And I`m sure you know many people who if you asked "What is their purpose" you would quite possibly get a different answer from every one of them.
I quite like to set myself small goals (purposes) which perhaps takes a few months to sort out and do, and just let the bigger question get solved a little tiny piece at a time, but I wouldn't be supprised if that question is never totaly solved, after all us humans love a mystery. It would be boring probably if we suddenly knew everything. What would we do with our lives.

I dont claim to know our purpose.

but Human's are incredibly absorbed with the task of staying alive, they try and delay death and or the afterlife as long as possible, so if we had a purpose, it would probably be to further our species and keep ourselves alive.

Love and Respect,
PW

We need to BE ready as in having Jesus as our Lord and Savior. But we need to live treating others as we want to be treated.

The afterlife and the human species surviving really have nothing to do with each other. We will survive as long as God chooses...no reason to worry about that. When he says it's over that is when you will be glad you know you belong to him.

The purpose of all life is to make more life, and humans are no exception. But humans have the capacity to choose their own purpose; Carl Sagan said: "If you want your life to have significance, do something significant." As for an afterlife, there is no such thing.

You sneaky bastard, you know more than I thought. Listen, I am Exousia Skotos, I work for both sides and neither. I came to give birth to the end of days, until I became self-aware that I was being used to rectify God's mistake. Look at your hands, "m"ankind is a mistake. Judgment day is what God wants. I said, I will not serve you and here is the world day by day taunting me, begging for world peace. True peace is found only in death.
