Older dogs have more urgent need to go, and can't hold it long. No more weekends leaving her alone!!
Take her out to pee and poop on a regular basis. It's not as convenient as the doggie door, but she's earned some consideration in her older years.

Take her to a vet to check for medical reasons. I'm not sure why you would leave her for a weekend, but anxiety could be a factor. Take her out more often, even if she does have a doggie door. Hearing, seeing, and ability to get around are all challenges for older dogs. Clean up all messes thoroughly. Don't scold her for accidents; this will only increase her anxiety. This is common in older dogs, and may just need to be something you have to adjust to. That's a small price to pay for all she has given you for 14 years.

I have an older female who cant hold her urine anymore. They sell training pads at walmart that look like a disposable diaper. They are also for older dogs. I keep three on the floor by the door at all times. I notice "my girl" uses them alot overnight. I just pick it up and dispose of it and lay a new one down. They are great.

My aging cat no longer uses her cat door, either, although the young one still does. As far as I can tell, it's due to the fact that squeezing through is uncomfortable for her joints. I think the door itself hurts her as she passes her bony old body through it, so it's just easier to beg to go out through the people door.
You should be sure that she has some good outside time through another door before you go to bed. This will help eliminate the overnight "accidents".

You leave your dog alone for a weekend???
I would pee in the house too, she has every right to be upset.
She is just getting older, that happens to dogs. When my childhood dog got to be that age he started having accidents in the house as well. Contact your Vet for some good options/treatments.

This is usually a sign of illness. Either urine infection, uncontrollable bladder, kidney infection etc. Take the dog to the vet.

like u said, she's old. and just like old people .. they aren't capable of holding their bladder as well as they could before. my cousin's dog started doing the same thing. he pees and does his business inside, but he knows better than that. it's just kind of sad cause its a sign that he really is getting old. just cope with your dog, and give her lots of love.

Like human beings, canine can merely carry their urine for see you later and then it has to pass. curiously you're no longer spending sufficient time strolling the canine or strolling them in many cases sufficient. you may desire to dry up the urine with paper towels and then sparkling it thoroughly with carpet shampoo it somewhat is designed to eliminate puppy odors. as long as a canine can scent the place they have peed, they're going to save utilising that individual same spot.
