Because you can either choose to view UK & Ireland questions or "All English Questions", which will include the ones from America. If you're in America and choose "All English Questions" you will get the ones posted in the Uk & Ireland and you might not realise that they are not being posted by Americans.

I sometimes log onto answers.yahoo.com instead of uk.answers.yahoo.com and then get American questions! I don't mind, I find the American Q&A really interesting and I've had some good answers from American posters although you do get the odd idiot (one of whom I've blocked because he's a nuisance).

On the left where you pick the category, scroll down until you see a drop menu that will say "All English Questions", click it and change it to "Uk and Ireland Questions Only" That will change it so you won't see anything from the states (unless the American is on the UK site)

If it is set on all English Questions, any question from any part of yahoo as long as its written in English, will appear in the list.

I think that Y! Answers must be universal as I see questions in all forums that come from different countries and some in foreign languages. So this one I am answering was on the main Y! A! Board and I am in WA state.

Maybe there is a specific UK section, but I kid of like the mish mash of people--and even appreciate the occasional snotty answer that is outside the US--se la vie

You can select UK and Ireland questions only but of course anyone can answer, so you can't guarantee where the answers come from. So thats why.

On most of the sites it doesn't really matter but there are sites that can become confusing, especially when someone is asking for advice particular to a specific country.
Immigration is one area that can become VERY confusing when an 'expert' from one country tries to answer for another -real experts wouldn't presume.
It does help to read the question fully of course - it can be irritating when it is clear that specific country information is required ......although at times it adds to the debate.

I'm on the American site. Maybe they just put us all together.....who knows. I find it interesting to see how people feel about different topics in other countries.

I know one time I did flip back and forth and I do think whoever is the best answer person is dependant on your country. Been awhile since I did that so it may not be the case now.

Seems to me you are experiencing the same things we are and I find your thoughts very relevant to what's going on with us.

like you yourself have just pointed out yahoo uk/ireland but still you refered soley to the uk. its time ireland had its own yahoo. 99 percent of the immigration politics or football questions are all about britain. but apart from that its the internet everybody has a right to voice an opinion. i can go to yahoo mongolia and voice my opinion on their politics even though i know nothing about it.

Common theory is that all English language questions come up on the same page. It doesn't overly bother me, there are idiots on both side of the pond. More answers the merrier I say, good or bad. In the spirit of Christmas I'll ignore the Troll.

Happy Christmas all : )

The true facts of any case appertaining to the UK for example will not be fully understood unless one resides in that country, so it seems rather pointless making any response. I do not live in the USA, although I observe what is going on there, however I would not be so presumptious as to openly make my thoughts known on any general subject.
So back off you guys from the USA and keep your thoughts to yourselves if you can.

I am on Yahoo USA, and I can see this question. Perhaps all the English-language Yahoos lead to the same place?
