I told my bf i loved him. Not sure if it took him by surprise but he said "those are strong words". We discussed it and both agree that we have strong feelings for each other. But after the discussion - he said let's have a cooling off period.

No clue - what that means - and why we need it but that's what he wants. What do I do? Guys - what's going though his mind.

A guys feelings are alot diffrent than girls also the way our brains work (thats a given...) i would have to agree with those that said he needs time. Just allow him some time to rack his mind and decide how he feels, when he is ready he will tell you.

Well girl all i have to say is WOW!!!!! You said those 3 words. I LOVE YOU!!!! Those are strong and maybe a lil to strong for him. He might really care for you but not to that point yet. And as for the cooling down he is trying to take the those 3 words in. So just let him breath for a minute and then go back and see wats up.

I'm not a guy, but I have to put my 2 cents in here... why are you dating him, calling him your boyfriend, if you hadn't even crossed the "I love you" barrier yet? Call me old fashioned, but I don't think a committment should be made to date someone exclusively until you actually love that person. Otherwise it's just a casual, and possibly friends-with-benefits situation, and those spell disaster for women. Guys love that kind of situation cause they don't have to DO anything or be accountable for their selfishness, but women can only deny for so long that they need something more than that. It just goes against their very nature.

Seems to me like he doesn't want anything serious. Cooling off pretty much means - he doesn't want to get in to a deep relationship. It's up to you if you're ok with that.
