Because we like to live vicariously through them.

They say things like that for the shock value. It is funny to hear someone talking about something that you have thought about but have never said out loud. I am sorry, I have the opposite view from you (and I have heard it before, I just can't recall exactly where): If it doesn't offend somebody somewhere, then it's not funny.
"Comedians should say things that is [sic] appropriate for everything." Yeesh. What a dull, G-rated Disney cartoon world you must live in. I'd rather have a good laugh once in a while.

Today's comedy is in a steady decline. They swear because it allows people to remove themselves fromt the comedian, making him/her special and different, therefore relatively unrelatable. This is effective because then this opens the gateway for people to remove themselves fromt their jokes. So, if a comedian is talking about something pertaining to race, religion, ect, the listener doesnt feel bad.
Most of the time, comedians say "gross" or inopropriate things so they can take advantage of the race or gender in question, and demean it.
They dont care about what they say, as long as the laughs keep coming and people recognize them. Its a way of self-commercialization.
Nevertheless, this is also contributed to by declining culture. We no longer value the fine arts, sophistication, or anything that is based upon articulation. So, if someone is making fun of someone else because their different, we dont take the time to understand the implications of the matter at hand. Also, comedians usually just state the obvious.

Well then I guess you miss what comedians do and who they are. We all have to find humor in our lives and the best way is for pros to show us with their monologues how to laugh at ourselves. Picking at the holes we plug our lives into is funny and everyone can relate to something or many things they spoof on. And the definitive word here is spoof. So chill out and get a life. Comedy allows us all to see ourselves in our rawest. If you don't like comedy, don't watch it or the comedians. But don't spoil it for everyone else.

Not everyone thinks like a child, I suppose.
"if one person gets angry or doesn't like it the comedian should not say those things."
Every form of entertainment offends numerous people in ridiculous ways. Hell no.

Yes....you have a girlfriend, why would you be eyeing up other people's legs? If you had said "Nice legs" then that would be a compliment, but asking her to show you how far her legs went up? That's just plain creeeeeepy if you ask me, and it's guys like you I avoid when I go out!!
