Well, not literally eat, but close enough. When I want to get him on finger, pet him, or feed him some greens he starts biting my cuticles; He loves to really dig in. Besides him messing up my cuticles, it really hurts sometimes. How can I get him to stop? It doesn't seem like he's attacking me, it seems more like he just enjoys chewing on my fingertips. =(
He's about 10months old.
Had him for about 8-9months....
I'm assuming it's a male

My parakeets did that also, and now my cockatiel like to chew on my fingernails. I will put my hands in my pockets when he is sitting on my lap, and he gets upset and looks for my hands.

If your budgie(parakeet) has a blue or purplish-blue nose its a boy. If the nose is offwhite, yellow, yelloworange its a girl.
I had a parakeet for 14 yrs. that on occasion would display the same habit. I didn't know if he was excited or, perhaps, needing salt in his system(from sweat).
It didn't happen too often, but, yes, it can be painful.
