I would. True, they aren't the artist-renting-space schema that's in most shops, sending more of their $$$/hour to the shop for the spot.

Instead, they're the shop itself, with the overhead required to run said shop in their face. As long as they are legit artists, they'll have plenty of things they need to put the cash into.

My tattoo artist works for himself and I always tip. I do it out of appreciation and courtesy. If you are happy with how they treated you and with the final piece, then tip. I usually tip about 15-20%.

An artist is an artist REGARDLESS of where they work (or if they're the boss) - as long as they do the ink, then they get tipped ;););););)
