Because apparently someone in the paper reckons it is an insult to people who actually believe it is all true. What do you think, and what is your religious affiliation?

I enjoy singing Sweeney Todd songs... I don't agree with slitting throats and don't secretly aspire to be a Demon Barber, but I like the songs. I think that's just as acceptable as atheists enjoying songs of a religious nature for their melodies or for the sake of "singing along" with a community.

Let him sing carols if he wants to. I'm a Catholic, and feel that people should be free to do as they please. If he enjoys it, what's the problem? The carols are very catchy tunes, and they're classics for a reason. They can be enjoyed by all, despite one's religious or anti-religious leanings. It's not as if I've never sung songs where I disagree with the lyrical content. Also, I perform classical music; the lyrics are often religious in nature, but I've sung those lyrics beside atheists on any number of occasions. Music is for everyone, and that includes Richard Dawkins.

Yes. Who doesn't enjoy a carol once in a while? And why not in a manger rather than in a mud bath?

There are atheist carols too, such as this one.

Just because you are an atheist, doesn't mean that you can't admit that the Sistine Chapel is an amazing work of art - or the Last Supper - or Handel's Messiah - or Christmas carols.

I'd be a little suspect of the judgement of someone who rejected all of those things just because they came from a 'religious' background.

In general, all it makes me think is that the reporter for whatever paper it was is a complete and total moron.

I don't think it matters. I sing religious music, and I'm an atheist. For a long time, the church paid the music composers, so a lot of the great masterpieces of classical music have at least religious undertones.

They're just songs.

I like christmas. That doesn't mean it means anything religious to me.

Do you think that certain 'religious' groups should have their rights excessively curbed? Hitler did.

I don't care. He could sing "Material Girl" for all I care. If Christians find it insulting, they need to grow up.

Atheist.

Uh oh. Someone better call the Church Police.

Obviously, the man is a mere tissue of lies.

Perhaps even a hardened Atheist senses the underlying joy of the incarnation, even if he won't admit the truth of it to himself :)
