Of course. Asking her out and taking the initiative of increasing the relationship between you two its a normal thing to do. And I assure you even if she's not interested in you as a potential mate you still remain best friends.

Usually if things go bad in these relationships it ends the friendship all together. But if you really want to ask her out, then go for it. But just know the consequences if it doesn't work out.

First you have to run around in circles screaming the Oscar Myer Wiener song as loud as you can. Then you fart anywhere in public where theres alot of people. If that doesnt work try standing on your head for an hour then do jumping jax naked with your parents on the roof. Trust me. It always works for me. Hope this helped you!!!

I think its worth a shot i mean your best friends you know each other well and "if" she likes you and you like her go for it. Best friend relationships work out really well. In fact... my boyfriend used to be my best friend... heh i upgraded XD
