Will a .308 bullet fit into a magazine for a .300? Well, if I understand your question correctly you are asking if a .308 loaded cartridge will fit into a magazine for a .300 (and I am assuming you mean the old .300 Savage since they are close to the same size). Yes it will fit. Will a .308 work in a .300 Savage (or any of the .300 Magnums for that matter). Not at all.

Always use only the ammo that your rifle is chambered for. There are so few exceptions to this rule that they are not even worth mentioning.

Best.

If you have a rifle with controlled feed, i.e. the extractor claw grabs the rim of the cartridge as it is extracted from the magazine, holding the cartridge firmly against the bolt-face as the cartridge is pushed toward the chamber, the answer is maybe, you can chamber a .308 Winchester CARTRIDGE in a .300 WinMag chamber.

Should you? No! Because of the larger dimensions of the .300 WinMag's chamber, it is highly likely that the case would rupture on firing and would give you a face full of brass and gas.

BTW, nearly all of the .30 caliber cartridges use .308" projectiles. Only the projectiles, the part that exits the muzzle toward the target, are properly called bullets.

The loaded, unfired ammunition should be referred to as cartridges, or ammunition, NOT bullets.

Always use the proper ammunition in your rifle. You can not substitute other cartridges safely. (Except in pistol caliber carbines chambered for the .357 Magnum or .44 RemMag, in which case you can use .38 Spls, or .44 Spls.)

Not a good idea at all! I was at the shooting range the other day when a guy put a .270 in a .300 chamber. This was a really stupid idea. It blew up in the chamber and left fragments in his face. To answer your question, yes the bullet will fit in the mag but don't fire it YOU WILL GET HURT!

A .308 will fit into a .300 win mag, .300 remington mag, .300 weatherby, but will be longer than the original cartridge. It will not fit in a .300 Reminton SAUM or .300 WSM or WSSM magazine, as they're too short.

The bullets are the same, but the case dimensions, including the head, are completely different, so if you try shooting it, the case will rupture and you're likely to get hot gasses and metal fragments all over you. When you get out of the hospital, be sure you have a good vise and a four pound sledge handy to open the bolt.

errrr dont do that an ak-47 round will fit an m-16 clip but will just kill you.its like the dimensiona .008 caliber larger than the .300 so it wouldnt cycle in the bolt(if u have a semi-auto it would jam it up the bolt)and if it did cycle it would really mess up the barrel and would ruin it.also larger round not saying it would but it could crack or blow up the barrel.and 308 is more expensive than 300 rounds
