Ok so im doing a debate tomorrow and im con for lowering the drinking age and i want some of your opinions to use! thanks for your help.

At 18 you are considered an adult, and the 21 year old limitations put 18 years olds in the situation of being Second Class Citizens, which is unConstitutional, as it violates the 14th Amendment, Section 1.
"All persons born or naturalized in the United States, and subject to the jurisdiction thereof, are citizens of the United States and of the State wherein they reside. No State shall make or enforce any law which shall abridge the privileges or immunities of citizens of the United States; nor shall any State deprive any person of life, liberty, or property, without due process of law; nor deny to any person within its jurisdiction the equal protection of the laws."

They tried that once years ago in NJ USA.. Lowered it to 18 from 21.. There were so many more traffic accidents attributed to drunk teens, so they raised it back up to 21. Teens are still kids. Most like fast cars, and doing wild things for kicks.. Drinking only gives them "false" courage to do more of these things, thus harming themselves and sometimes others as well..Alcohol is a drug. If you drink it, smoke it, snort it, or shoot it, drugs are drugs. Yes, Alcohol is legal tho for 21 and over. Even those 21 and over get into deep trouble sometimes tho.. Why give, otherwise, law abiding kids an earlier chance to possibly ruin their lives.. There are under age drinkers anyhow, but at least some will go by the law. Keep our kids and others as safe as possible for as long as possible. When they turn 21, then it's up to them to make, hopefully, fairly intelligent decisions in their life.

If we are able to vote at 18, then why can't we drink at 18? I mean, voting is a major thing and it affects the rest of our lives, drinking may or may not have that effect on us. If we are able to control how much we drink, why not lower it a few years? If we are responsible about it, we should be able to drink a few years earlier, it isnt much of a difference in years. SOme people only do stuff like that because they know they arent allowed to legally drink anyways, if you make it legal at a younger age, they wont want ot once they are that old because then they will be able to and not get in trouble for it.

You can definitely put in the fact that we have the highest drinking age in the world, plus we have the most drunk drivers. We are the most irresponsible with drinking. If the age was lower I don't think we would have as many accidents involving under age drinking and driving. Example Germany.

Drinking age should deffinately not be lower than 18. 20 would be best I think, most people at 20 I know are pretty responsible.

you know teenagers cause the majority of accidents. you suppose to drink at 21 but drink at 18. y'all 18-25 year ODs cause mad accidents and what do u think will happen if you let kids 17 and under drink then y'all drive... this is a slow retarted question

Well it's been done here in the USA before, and did not work. They argued if it was all right to go out and fight for their country and to vote, it should be all right to drink. I say if they're in the serves, then and only then, let them drink, but no one else. Teens are to unconcerned about others, as long as it doesn't concern them. It's all about me!

The most obvious issue is that a person who is at least 18 can be drafted to go fight in a war, but if he's not at least 21, he cannot buy a beer.

The voting and drinking age should be 25

people who want to drink will no matter what their age is. i personally detest alcohol and think it should be totally illegal. It takes more lives than people realize, not just in auto accidents.. it destroys livers, causes pancreatitis, but it has been teaching white people to dance since the 1700s
