I have Adobe Prof 8 and am trying to figure out how to edit a .pdf file. It seems that the .pdf files converted directly from word or Excel are editable. However, if I use a scanner and scanner these documents into .pdf files, Adobe Prof treats them like pictures and I can not edit the texts. Can anyone help please?

When you scan a document, be it a picture or text, what you are really doing is taking a picture of it. IE, a scanner is actually a type of camera. So if you want to scan text and make it editable, you need to use a scanning program that is called OCR, or Object Character Recognition. It should be part of your scanner's soft ware. You will need to register it.

OCR is not perfect, but it's the best we have, so far.
