Most commercially packaged Gingerbread will have enough preservatives (both natural and artificial) to keep it safe for as long as you would keep a packaged cookie.

The difference is the fact that this will be exposed to whatever environmental conditions you have around your house.

Most of us at this time of year have decorations out and people coming and going, not to mention having the house closed up so you can see where there will be some additional dust that will be in the air and some of this will find its way to your creation.

Your masterpiece will be edible long after you would WANT to eat it due to the accumulated fallout that is normal in everybodys home.

If you were to keep it covered (not refrigerated that will ruin it) it would last about three weeks befor getting too stale to enjoy.

Remember Cinnimon and Ginger are both wonderful preservitives.

As with maximum baked products, a week or 2 is severe-high quality, although, undergo in techniques additionally the ambience: Is there a brilliant number of heat temperature? Humidity? dirt? puppy fur? Rugrats with who-knows-the place-they have-been palms? Do as a results of fact the clever adult adult males of Bethlehem did as quickly as they presented their products: carry 2 of the entire ingredient! which potential, if one gets misplaced or breaks . . . ok . . . undesirable humorous tale! severely, besides the certainty that, make 2: One in strengthen for demonstrate (throw out on an identical time as you unload the different decorations). Make the alternative for munching an afternoon or 2 in strengthen; once you haven't got room in the 'refrigerator, then wrap it intently and LOOSELY in plastic wrap, and positioned it in a funky, dry place (a closed closet shelf is ultimate); in basic terms do not forget approximately it!!!

As with most baked goods, a week or two is fine, but, consider also the environment: Is there a lot of heat? humidity? dust? pet fur? rugrats with who-knows-where-they've-been hands?

Do as the Wise Men of Bethlehem did when they brought their gifts: Bring two of everything! That way, if one gets lost or breaks . . . okay . . . bad joke!

Seriously, though, make two: One in advance for show (throw out when you dump the other decorations). Make the other for munching a day or two in advance; if you don't have room in the 'fridge, then wrap it CAREFULLY and LOOSELY in plastic wrap, and put it in a cool, dry place (a closed closet shelf is fine); just don't forget about it!!!
