If it is truly a government site then it will end in .gov
The site sounds like a semi-scam. They charge you money to take the civil service exam. Basically this is the test for the post office. You should go to your local post office and ask about how to apply. You can submit your info and they will send you some study material and you will be on the list to take the test and its FREE!

What's the website? Government website usually end with ".gov", some of the state government sites don't.
It sounds like a scam to me. I wouldn't think that state or federal government would allow to do that. Most of them have to post their jobs on a job bank, and you go through and search for what you want to apply for.
If it's a state job you're looking for, go to a search engine and search for "state of ___", from their site you should be able to find their job bank. If it's a federal job you're looking for you can go here: http://www.usajobs.opm.gov/

Well, it sounds like scam to me...

If not a job scam as described by http://www.oil-offshore-marine.com/bewarejobscams.php then it's definitely a data entry scam http://www.oil-offshore-marine.com/beware-data-entry-job-scams.php

because to think wisely, why would they put you to pay 68 bucks when there are tons of sites where you can apply for free.

Be serious - I say it's definitely a scam! And you should report it to the Internet Crime Center at once!

Those sites just charge you for information you can find for free on your own.

One place you can start your search for federal jobs is http:://www.usajobs.gov, the U.S. Government's official site for jobs and employment information provided by the United States Office of Personnel Management
