Well what i would like to know is the condition is really getting me depressed as i can not do anything and wouls it be possible to recwest to get my bowels removed i know it is a bit extreme but i can no longer live with it .. please can some one give me help before i make the wrong choice in life.

I have already tried around 10 diets provided by doctors i.e high fiber, low fiber, low dairy.... and have been to 3 specialists who have put me through a variety of tests and procedures and still they cant tell me whats wrong. I feel i am at the last straw and cant cope with the condition anymore. surely after 12 years of having this condition they should have found out if it were ibs by now.

Hi there,
I don't know what your medical insurance is like, but I would suggest having a colonoscopy done. I have similar symptoms to yours, only not quite as severe, and I'm 24 yrs old. They thought for a long time I had IBS, which runs in my family, but I just had a colonoscopy and they confirmed that I have inflammatory bowel disease, which is apparently worse than IBS.

No, you can't have your bowels removed.
If it's IBS, then it's very likely that particular foods are causing trouble. You should limit your diet to the types of foods that are least irritating, to see if this helps. I'm sure this will be boring, but it will help you confirm the problem, and should alleviate much of the discomfort. Below is a link to a site that has a lot of suggestions on how to handle the condition, and what foods are the most common triggers.
I think it's also worth finding a new doctor, and not letting them say they don't know what's wrong. If I were in your shoes, I would be at the doctor's office every day, until they did enough of the right kinds of tests to figure it out.

First there has been a lot of research and solutions to IBS lately, check out the most recent drugs, diets, research first.
Do you deal with a Medical University Center or just a doctor.
You cant do something so extreme, your frustration is giving you this choice -- "I'll do anything"
Get a fresh perspective first with a new respected doctor.

Chrissy, God Bless you. I'd check out irritable bowel disease, and chrohn's disease. I'm not sure of the spelling of chrohn's. Go to Webmd.com. I am near Topeka, KS and have about the best gastroenterologist in the world.
