It seems that so many people purposely ask or answer questions that are negative towards God or Christianity. Why? I am a Christian and do not make mean comments or ask questions that are offensive to other religious groups, so why do people do that against Christians?

Personally, I'm a Deist. I know lots of Christians, and I believe in a God (of sorts) as well as the importance of being a good person, so I don't really have a problem with Christianity itself. I simply think that it is often interpreted in a very dangerous manner, and often times it is pushed on people. Those with other beliefs can feel oppressed or threatened, and the internet provides an anonymous atmosphere where they can vent, be it for good or bad.

For example, from my point of view, America is in danger of developing a state religion, as evidenced by those who say that we are a Christian nation. It's echoed in the presidential debate. In reality, "In God We Trust" and "One Nation Under God" were introduced in the 50's as a defense against "Godless Communists," while there are documents from our founding fathers that say that this was definitely not their intention.

Another matter is the inconsistency with which the Bible is used. So often isolated passages are used to discriminate and push personal agendas, while ignoring the message as a whole. I myself have been threatened with the fires of hell for arguing in favor of Evolution (as if any human being would have the power to sentence me to damnation - even if I believed in such a thing). Take, for example, the fact that our president claims he is a Christian on the grounds that he is opposed to abortion and gay rights, yet he completely ignores the overall message of peace and compassion.

As a final point, there are certain groups that oppose women in the workforce. Others believe that disease is simply a manifestation of sin, and that doctors should try to save the patient's soul, rather than prescribe medicine. Before you dismiss them as fringe groups, take into account that they are affiliated with some of Mike Huckabee's campaign workers. I can see why some people would start to be scared. Mike Huckabee himself stated that he doesn't believe in Evolution. It seems like a trivial matter, but in this day and age, an industrial and scientifically-advancing America can't afford to have a president that defers to the Bible for his scientific information.

The amount of scorn that atheists are facing is increasing as well. I've read several stories of atheists being harassed out of school by students and teachers alike, on the grounds that "America is a Christian Nation" and that atheists should not be allowed to live here.

I don't mean to be negative or mean, I just want you to understand my point of view (which I share with some, but not all, non-Christians). As I said, I don't have a problem with Christianity itself, just some (but not all) of it's followers.

I'm not saying that mean comments are right, because they aren't. I'm simply saying that I can understand where the feelings are coming from, and I have definitely seen angry or mean comments from both sides of the aisle (i.e. being threatened with damnation, as above). If you couple these feelings with the anonymity of the internet, things are bound to get mean eventually.

I hope that I was able to put forth my side of the situation. As a group, we're as diverse as humans can possibly be, but by and large, we're not angry, mean people. We're just a little defense sometimes.

I don't have the same beliefs as you, but I wish you nothing but peace and happiness.

What I can't seem to wrap my head around is the first avatar said "it's not God I have a problem with, but His fan club." And another one states that maybe it's the answers or questions we say. #1. You, not me or the lady on the corner..."You" are in charge of your own destiny. I have no more control over the choices that you make than you do over me. You choose to hate God, hate Christianity because that's the condition of your heart, and that is what makes you feel good. Let's get real here, if atheists were actually considerate or respectful of Christianity, well then they just might get too close to the Truth and God forbid, they'd rather wallow in darkness than admit seeing the Light. I don't write purposely offensive things to non-believers. God's blood shed for them just as much as me. But I do not water down God's Word, so I and any other who does the same will always be an offense to them. No biggie, bring it on! God said this would happen, we should not be surprised. In fact, you only need to worry when your Christian life is not an offense with the world.

I am a Christian and I believe and live a Christian life even when it comes to answering questions on here. I would never offend anyone or judge them or put them down for their religious choices. If I did I would not be a Christian. I am not sure why people do what they do if they want others to respect their choices and their religion. I don't want to give off a negative feeling about Christianity so I wouldn't think others of different religions would want to turn people against theirs. Doesn't make sense. Merry Christmas everyone!!!!

Nothing Scares me for if God be for me? Who will be against me see the sinner is the one that is afraid because the Lake of Fire is waiting for all even me if I am not right on the Day of Judgment. Jesus said he came to bring the sword and that is the word. See the sword was to be proven if you believe something as a Christian it needs to be proven that is what God said when he came in the flesh. See it was going to be mother against father and father against son and daughter against brother. See Christians think and believe when you have someone asking them to prove what they believe. They think you are trying to put them down. But if fact you are trying to be your brothers keeper. Because if they believe in something that is not founded in the bible then why do they keep it? The world have told a lot of lies that so called people that call themselves Christian believe. One is Easter what does a rabbit and an egg got to do with the death and the remission of Sin?
See God said that man would rather keep the tradition of man than to keep the commandments of God. If you look at it deeply you will start to see that religion and they're doctrines come from a lot of pagan worship. One of the worship was the worship of the sun. Why do Christians think and believe that The Son which was the God in the old testament that made everything and talk to Moses and the children of Israel. Came in the Flesh to change what he made. Sun day is sun worship and it is the 1st day of the week and not the Sabbath which is the 7th day of the week. God said I am Your Lord Your God and I change not. But we like to worship things we see and that is going to get a lot of us killed by God. O some people say of that is the old Moses law. I say to them what Law did Moses write? You have to start using that big brain that God has given you. Just like they say the Sabbath is the Jews day. Okay show me in the word of God where it says that? But, what it does say is that the Sabbath is the Lords day. Okay I have a question lets take a look at it for a second. If the world is being so Christ like and the Christian are following his word why has he not came back yet? Because the true word is not beginning taught. See it not just the Sabbath but the 7 annual Sabbaths. The dietary law as to be kept with all of the 10 the Royal Law which is the commandment that God gave us to keep. But many will read this and say o his is crazy and he does not know what he is talking about. Will I challenge any one to prove Sunday in the word of God. I want you to prove Christmas and the day Jesus was born. But I know you can not for it is not in the bible. For the bible say it was a warm month that Jesus was born on. O you say it does not matter. Yes it does to God but maybe not too you. But I say that payment will be paid in full and all will have to pay what they owe. I hope that you trust in the word of God and stop putting you trust in what man and all the lies he has told you. Read for understand and understanding will give you true power. Because wisdom is true power and knowledge will lead you too all truth and in truth you will become one of God true children.

I welcome with open heart the truth revealed in the Bible. It is a real blessing to me and gives me peace with what God says.

I don't think the Bible scares most of the human race. However, there are many in the human race who do not want to acknowledge the teachings of the Bible, mainly because if they can convince themselves that it is just a fable, fairy tale, man thought out and written book with no teeth in it they can live and do anything their mind and imagination conjures up without worrying about eternal consequences only earthly consequences.

The problem is they are blinded by the god of this world and don't even realize it

Some of the followers of Christianity scare me. Especially the ones that delight in thinking of their fellow humans in eternal torment and hope they can help send them there.

You are one of the few Christians active here that don't make mean comments, my friend.

Most of the time the response to atheists, pagans, and other non-believers are: "You're stupid and going to burn in hell, I hope you enjoy!" "What if you're wrong, you spend eternity suffering, shouldn't you believe in God? If not, he'll zap you."

For example: Iron Hand up there - the love just oozes for the "vermin" you're asking the question to.

I'm Christian also and questions like this don't help either... if you were unbiased you'd see the animosity is equal on all sides.

I'm with you on this one, I too am a Christian.

I rarely see us asking dumb questions about atheists.

What do they care? to each his own. I welcome anyone trying to live a better more positive life.. . .. what is it that threatens you so?

p.s. Not all 'Christians/Believers" are alike. . .don't judge all by the actions of one. Everyone that claims they are a believer may have their own way of believing. We only seem to hear about the bad ones.
