Sorry I'm still a bit confused. My wife and I have 2 preschool kids, I worked full time but my wife is a stay home mom (by choice). We decided to send our kids to preschool started last year (2006). Is the tuition tax deductible at all? If so how can I get the deduction for last year (I didn't claim it last year)? Thank you.

If only one spouse works, you usually cannot claim a child care credit. You can claim a child care credit if the nonworking spouse was either a full-time student or disabled.

If this applies, file Form 1040X and get the credit for 2006.

No, it would only be deductible if both parents were working. If one was working and one was in school full time you might be able to deduct it, but not for a stay at home mom.

Sorry, no deduction for child care expenses for you.

Both spouses must work. When you do the form, it will ask for your wife's income. The zero you put down for her will mean you can't take a deduction.

No deduction if your wife is not working unless she is a student or disabled.
