So, you know how it is, 2 AP American outlines to do, didn't start... it looks like an all-nighter. I bought some caffeine pills for the purpose; they are 200 milligrams each. I drink a cup of instant coffee now and then, and have drank Red Bull and other energy drinks, and the worst I've felt was a slightly increased heart rate... once I got the jitters from a cup of brewed, but I also hadn't eaten anything. My question is, would one of these 200 milligram pills (taken with food) cause any real harm? I can't die, right? Would i get sick/the jitters? Or will I be fine? Should I cut it in half, just in case? Sorry, a lot of questions, I know... I'm just usually very nervous when it comes to taking pills.

Also, I am 110 lbs and 15 years old, if that helps anything.

Well, I wouldn't if I were you. I'd just drink a bunch of Pepsis. I don't think you WOULD die, but you might get sick. You'd be a little jittery. Just don't.

If you are used to the effects of caffeine, maybe not. But think for a moment how much you may already have had. A strong coffee - 50 mg. A cola - 30-50 mg. I would take half, then see how it goes from there. Wait at least 4 hours before even considering taking the other half. You may not even need it.

Hope this helps.

Yes it is, although caffeine may not be as harmful as "pot" or something like that, it's still a drug. Caffiene is hard on the kidneys and other risk factors. You say you take four of these a few times a day ????? You need to gradually cut down, they can be more harmful than coffee or tea or soda. Coffee has more caffeine than tea, that has more than soda. If you been taking these for a period of time, gradually cut down... NOT cold turkey, as you may experience side effects if you do. Be careful.

Follow your heart , your instincts, your nervousness and stay away from artificial ways to stay awake. Otherwise you will find yourself relying on them more and more until you're just a cranky bag of jitters. Plan your homework time better and don't procrastinate and you won't find yourself in such a situation in the first place.

Over time they can cause problems.

I would just stick to coffee and soda. Avoid the 'energy' drinks.

The fact is, the more caffeine and you take in - it will give you a quick boost, but then you will crash hard.
