That makes him the most current champion. Now Michael Waltrip's hire of his champion does not make a didley. I mean, NASCAR is insane. I will ofcourse watch it and root for it because I love it. I drive my family crazy with it. But I mean it just is not fair. THose open whell guys, yeah they should be allowed to come on in, but through the ranks. I realize they have some capability already but I mean, come on.!!!!!!!! Put them on the short course or something but let them earn their way in. Thanks for letting me vent.

Ok, I blame NASCAR, not Hornisch, that is for sure but I still think it is unfair.

I was infuriated when I read that article on NASCAR.com! Just proof that NASCAR can do what it wants, when it wants, and to hell with everyone else. However, when I understood that it only shooed him in for the first 5 races, I wasn't too worried. Sam has yet to keep a stock car together long enough to finish a race and I don't see where guaranteeing him five races is going to make him any better. He's still going to suck and probably won't be able to race his way in to too many of the other races. I'm so fed up with NASCAR after the '07 season that I can't stand it. Maybe I'll start watching crickett.

Everyone has a right to race, but in my mind they must earn the right to qualify. I do not like the idea of provisional's or the top 35 in points. Either you are fast enough or you are not starting that weekend. I don't care who you are or what team you drive for. I do not blame Hornish Jr. for this decision. It's just NASCAR management at their best again, Bending the rules to line their pockets.

Roger Penske is legendary to me, but for him to do this with a driver that is totally unqualified to be in a Cup car is beyond me. Hornish can't qualify and he's wrecked a bunch of cars. He needs more time before he even thinks he's ready to be in Cup. I guess the bright side is we all get to forget about it 5 races into the '08 season. I wonder what the Vegas odds are on Hornish even making the first 5 races.

There's no affect on MWR. Jarett is going to start the first 5 races using his past champions provisional, if need be, before tirning over the reigns to Reutiman. Trading points has been done in the past & it's legal. Why get upset about something you have no control over?

Its a dumb rule that Nascar has that allows's it.. nothing we can do about it...But its not gonna hurt Kurt Busch, he'll never have to use a past champion provisional, he is great when it comes to qualifying for races..Nascar needs to really look at this rule..

Nothing new.Seems that this sort of action takes place every year.
Busch quailifies really good so there is a safe bet he will be in the events,so Hornish has 5 free rides to make his mark or go back to something else.

he is not a champion of nascar the only thing he is going to gain is a starting spot in the first fives races..........should not affect Waltrip in any way.............is it wrong maybe but it is nascar's call...don't blame Hornish ..blame nascar
