Seriously, I don't mean to sound harsh, but I think it's a weak concept of what faith is - making it sound like faith is blind and devoid of reason.
I prefer to define faith as trust - based not on absence of reason - but on past experience and strength of evidence. I have "faith" that this chair I'm sitting in is gonna keep supporting me. I have faith the room will be illuminated when I flip the switch - and I have faith that God is and will keep the promises He has made.
He may not have given us "proof" (something everyone will accept without question) - but there is abundant evidence. I do not have faith despite reason - I have a reasonable faith.

He's already proved his own existence. 1 Timothy 3:16 states "Without controversy, great is mystery of godliness: God was manifest in the flesh, justified in the spirit, seen of angels, preached unto the Gentiles, believed on in the world, received up into glory."
God is a great mystery to those who do not know him and understand he is very much alive and exists. Proof verifies and confirms he exists just because his creature hasn't been given the eyes to see and is blind all they can do is deny.

So, this must mean that if people stopped believing in God, that he would cease to exist...since, without faith, he is nothing...
Sounds like fun.

I think Douglas Adams gave a great response to that old line:
"But," says Man, "the Babel fish is a dead giveaway isn't it? It could not have evolved by chance. It proves you exist, and so therefore, by your own arguments, you don't. QED"
"Oh dear," says God, "I hadn't thought of that," and promptly vanishes in a puff of logic.

Hmm, I have no faith and God doesn't exist. The quote seems to work fairly well.

If you were God, and wanted to see who believed in you, would you just come out and reveal yourself for the whole world to believe? So everyone would know you are real ? Or, would you see who believes with their hearts and not their eyes? I think God's plan is quite smart.
