I need to buy a bottle of marsala wine for cooking, I'm not sure if bottles say " marsala" on them. Does anyone know of good brand or what I should be looking for?

yes, the bottles say 'marsala' wine on them. any brand will do. be careful, though, if the recipe calls for dry or sweet marsala, make sure you get the right one!

It is a fortified wine, as in, they add brandy to it. For desert, try the sweet. It is a sipping, not drinking beverage. If you want to try it without buying at first, (although you will need the sweet for the recipie), try any Italian Rest. Most have chicken & veal Marsala, & it is usually very good. It is made with lightly breaded meat & mushrooms & has a brown sauce made with the marsala. I made Chicken Marsala once, it isn't hard, but then you have the bottle of wine left over!

Yes, they say Marsala. I don’t know which one I have- but I made sure it was one from Italy - having a good one makes a huge difference in chicken/veal marsala.

The bottle will say marsala, and is usually available at grocery stores. It is a sweet wine and even a "cheap" bottle will add nice flavor to whatever you are cooking so don't stress over brand.

Marsala wine is a Heavy bodied wine, you can find it in little bottle 4 packs in the wine section of the grocery store. I'm not a huge fan of wine, so cooking with it is trial and error for me. If you try it and don't like it, you can substitute a wine that you do like in the same quantity as the recepie calls for. Red or White! its your dinner make it the way you like!

and usually the back of it has great chicken/veal marsala recipes

It does say Marsala on the bottle. It does come in "sweet" as well, check your recipe to make sure.
