I'm willing to bet it's not always three "drinks."

I mean, there are a lot of factors at work here.

How quickly someone gets buzzed or even drunk depends largely on three things:

Body mass: the bigger you are, the higher your tolerance for alcohol.

Experience: the longer you have been drinking in your life really affects how quickly alcohol effects you.

Food: Is your stomach empty or did you just eat a bacon double cheeseburger? This has a huge effect on how quickly you feel alcohol.

Additionally, because they have a higher ration of fat to water, women tend to get drunk or buzzed more quickly than men, even when matched for weight and size.

Also, the type of drink is a huge consideration. While 12 oz. of beer and 1.5 oz. of 80 proof liquor have about the same amount of alcohol, you'll likely feel the effects of the liquor sooner. Wine falls in between, where one drink is typically considered 8 oz.

But beer can be anywhere from 3% ABV to 12% or even higher in some expensive, Belgian varietis. Wine can range from 7% to 16% but typically hovers around 12-14. As for spirits, some are stronger than others and people believe that what you mix a drink with can also aid in the buzzed feeling sooner.

So, for me, it depends on the drink, how much I've eaten and the fact that I'm an average sized good with a pretty high tolerance, it takes me anywhere from 2-6 drinks just to feel buzzed.

6 or 9

Usually about 5 (or half a bottle of Crown) before I get a buzz. I pour heavy and don' t use a shot measure. I just fill the glass with ice and pour until it is just to the top. I top it off with a little ginger-ale for mixer.
Good times!!!

Depends on what I have eaten that day. If I'm on an empty stomach I can have 3-4 and still be fine. A full stomach and I stay OK until we start doing shots.
