Honestly I come from a traditional family and I always wondered why is it only women that should help in preparation of holiday meals? Men should pitch in more!
I can't believe no woman in your family will help you! That is terrible. In my family every woman and girl is busy with a holiday prep assignment. Cooking, chopping, setting table, etc. everyone helps (except the men!).

HELLO!!! Don't know what world you live in, but all the women i know are the ones who prepare the holiday meals as the men watch sports....or hunt. Thats just the way it is, it has been and probably always will be. In fact, we are leaving on saturday to go out of state, 8 hr drive, and I am the one who have to still prepare the whole christmas dinner. I don't mind though.
Wait a minute, did you mean MEN and not women. If you did, i'm going to feel like a dork, but yet if you did mean that, then well, its not all that frustrating not for me anyway, cuz its been like that for how many decades. The women cook and the men hunt or something. Thats the way it should be.

My mother in law actually lives with me and won't help prepare any meals much less for the holiday. I make it as easy as possible by fixing dishes that are simple and provide easy clean up. Also anything I can prepare the day before is a bonus. Who wants to spend their entire Christmas day cooking especially without any help.

If they are all converging on your house, you need to call each attendee and ask them to bring some favorite dish of theirs... not just desserts.
If nobody is interested in that, you need to get the packaged turkey dinner from the grocery store deli.
When dinner is done, rest a little while, then yell out for some assistance in the kitchen.

No more so then when men won't help. What's gender got to do with this question?
