CHILDREN'S PLAY DOUGH

1/2 c. flour
1/4 c. salt
1/2 c. water with food coloring added
1 tsp. cream of tartar
1/2 tbsp. oil
Oil flavoring for scented play dough (optional)

Mix all together in medium saucepan. Cook, stirring constantly over medium heat until ball forms. Don't let it get too dry. This doesn't take long to cook. You may add cinnamon or peppermint oils to add a scent to the play dough. Be sure to use non-toxic, edible flavorings in case the children happen to eat some of it.

Gingerbread Play-Dough

1cup flour
1/2 cup salt
2 tsp. cream of tartar
1 cup water
1 tsp. vegetable oil
Spices: cinnamon, allspice, ginger, nutmeg

Mix dry ingredients together. Experiment with the spices until you get a scent and color you like.
Mix water and oil together first and then add to the dry ingredients.
In a pot, cook the mixture for three to five minutes on low/medium stirring constantly.
The dough will start to pull away from the sides of the pot and stick together in a large ball.
Take the dough out and knead until it becomes soft and smooth.
Allow dough to cool and then store it in an airtight container.
