Can i just use self-rising flour. I am making peanut butter cookies and chocolate chip cookies for Christmas.

if you are using all purpose flour, then you will need to use baking soda if the recipe calls for it. baking soda helps the flour to rise. If you don't use it, then your cookies will be tough.

Yes you can use self-rising flour instead and you won't need to use the baking soda.

Following a recepie that calls for self rising flour means it has Baking Soda and probly a bit of Baking Powder, NO they are not the same thing!
All purpose flour doesn't contain these already, so yes you need to add to it, as the amounts are listed in the recepie.

Depends on the recipe. Baking soda I think is required when you have some acid ingredients. I don't know I may be wrong. Certainly all purpose flour contains no baking soda.
