You get your license from the county in which you are getting married.
EDIT: After having done just a touch of research (the internet is a WONDERFUL thing!), it says that at least ONE of the two people getting married MUST be a resident of Waukesha county for at least 30 days. So I would recommend contacting the County Clerk for more information.

In some states it does matter where you get the marriage license. In Maryland you have to get the license in the county where you're getting married but do not have to be a resident of that county or even Maryland. Call the courthouse in Milwaukee and explain where your wedding will take place but that you are from Milwaukee county. They will be able to tell you where to get your marriage license.

I'm not sure that the first answer is correct. It depends on whether marriages are regulated by the state government or county government in Wisconsin. In Illinois, where I'm getting married, marriages are regulated by the county, so we have to get the license in the county we're getting married in. If I were you, I'd check with the Waukesha County government and ask them.

As far as I know, the only requirement is that you get the marriage license from the state you're getting married in. The county doesn't matter.

You can get your marriage license from either place. As long as it's in the same state, it doesn't matter. We got our marriage license in Franklin County and got married in Hamilton County.

The license is a state wide license. You can get it anywhere and be married anywhere in any given state.
