Because it's not humanly possible. And don't get me started on evolution.

Evolution is smarter than we are. Predicting how nanoscopic components will interact is hard. As a blind watchmaker evolution has a vastly easier job of sculpting things than a sighted watchmaker without millions of years of patience but slightly more understanding. When you really look at how organisms are put together there's this overwhelming sense that nature is both stupider than you (spends a lot of time mucking around with inefficient modes and moving towards final products sideways) and vastly more patient and probably superior for it.
People are trying anyway. Seeing how they lack the reactive surface of an entire planet or a few hundred million years of patience which to try various subtly different schemes until something replicates it may not happen any time soon.

Larina. If you are trying to rake up a Science vs Christianity issue...
Science MAY make life someday in the future. Today, they are able to clone people and are close making original limbs etc from stem cells
The bible will NEVER be able to prove that the earth is flat. (Did you know that Galileo was put in the dungeons for saying that the Earth is shperical - and the pope apologised a few years back)
The Bible will NEVER be able to contradict evolution.
Do you know why? Because these things were not said by Jesus. The medieval clergy added these to have power over people.
If you look at today's christians, they believe in their respecive churches - and not anymore in what Jesus would have actually said. They stopped believing in their power to judge right and wrong using the conscience - but refer to THE BOOK. That's the extent to which brainwashing has taken place.
And mind you - I love this man called Jesus, but will have none of the bunkum being propagated in his name. And I am NOT a Christian. I try to also draw wisdon from other religions and from Atheism.

Life, like energy, cannot be created or destroyed. It, or more correctly, we can only change form. Our forms are animated by our Being. But nothing can create life because life is eternal. We find that hard to believe because we have been told only the physical universe exist when there is so much more. Ironically we are living proof of this.

1. It took life hundreds of millions of years to emerge in the whole volume of Earth's potential biosphere. Efforts have only been underway.
2. Contaminant free systems are incredibly difficult to build given the ubiquitous nature of life, making the experiments expensive.
3. There is no financial incentive to make artificial life, given the vast array of commercially viable species already available.

Because Jesus is the Author of life:
English Standard Version; Acts 3:15 and you killed the Author of life, whom God raised from the dead. To this we are witnesses.
King James Version; Acts 3:15 And killed the Prince of life, whom God hath raised from the dead; whereof we are witnesses.
Adam Clarke's Notes on the Bible: Act 3:15 -
And killed the Prince of life - Τον αρχηγον της ζωης, The author of this life: not only implying that all life proceeds from Jesus Christ as its source, but that the life-giving influence of that religion which they were now proclaiming came all through him. Αρχηγος signifies a prime leader or author, a captain, from αρχη, the beginning, head, or chief; and αγω, I lead. In Heb_2:10, Christ is called Αρχηγος της σωτηριας, the Captain of salvation. He teaches the doctrine of life and salvation, leads the way in which men should walk, and has purchased the eternal life and glory which are to be enjoyed at the end of the way. So the Jews preferred a son of death, a destroyer of life, to the Author and Procurer of life and immortality!

Evolution took *billions* of years.
You don't seriously consider that the fact that we can not make a fully formed functional living creature from scratch in a lab overnight to be evidence against evolution, do you?
Then again, I've actually heard worse arguments than this one from creationists...

Life is not physical. Though the molecules and enzymes and RNA and DNA are all there like bricks or sand, life did not originate in this space-time universe. It originates from another reality in which time and distance and matter do not exist.

They have. Scientists have created new strains of bacteria and other single-celled organisms that are genetically distinct from any natural species found on earth.

Just because it hasn't doesn't mean it can't. Before 1969 no man ever set foot on the moon. Before 1903 no man ever flew a powered airplane. Before 1997 no computer ever beat a world chess champion. Just because it hasn't been done yet, doesn't mean it CAN'T be done. Wake up.

Because the source of life and life energy is not physical.
Scientists are looking only at the physical universe itself.
They are looking at effects not causes.
P.S. Well spotted! You are on the right track.
