I've been on here for 8 months now, and I've never seen that question.
Besides medical reasons, why do they still practice it. Or is that the only reason?

I know it's not limited to Christians, but I wanted to know why CHRISTIANS (specifically) still practiced it, since Jesus said it didn't have to be done.

Tradition and peer pressure
My father was uncircumcised [Catholic] and had a fit when my mother [agnostic]] had my brother circumcised as the dr recommended it for cleanliness.
My husband wanted our sons circumcised because he didn't want them to feel awkward in the locker room full of guys who had been.

It's not Christians; it's ignorant Americans. The reason they do it is that in the nineteenth century, the English speaking world was obsessed with masturbation, so circumcision was introduced to make masturbation less pleasurable, with the hope being that that would keep boys from masturbating. Of course, that didn't work: uncircumcised guys just have to work a little harder at it. England and Australia adopted this practice too, but as the Western world grew less puritanical and medicine advanced, the English speaking world other than the US abandoned this barbaric practice. The US has not been able to shift to a more rational policy, in the same way that it is the only industrialized country that has not been able to switch to the metric system. The Bible clearly states that Christians should NOT be circumcised: "Listen! I, Paul, am telling you that if you let yourselves be cicumcised, Christ will be of no benefit to you." (Gal 5:2 NRSV)

My family is Christian, and I have 2 brothers, one circumsized the other not. It was just a cultural thing, at the time one was born doctors recommended doing it, years down the road they said there wasn't much point with the other brother. My dad is a pastor and it was all the same to him whether they were or weren't.

It has been asked before. Some of them honestly don't know it's not necessary (Paul's letters to the Galatians) and say stupidly "it's in the bible". Others honestly believe it's clean and hygienic (it's not). But it's only really Christians in the US who do it, and it's a cultural thing there.

The Christians don't do it as described in the Bible to be done. It is only done for the medical reasons. Some doctors won't even do it if the parents ask for it to be done.

I never even thought about it being a religious thing when I had my son circumcised.
I had it done because it was going to be easier to keep his penis clean, and healthy.
The men that I knew, that weren't circumcised, said that they had a hard time keeping them clean
Mu step daughter's two boys are not circumcised, and she has a heck of a time with them. Infections. the oldest boy is seven, and he forgets to wash his penis really well, and so>>> infection. the little one has a hard time with as well.
it is just easier, and so much cleaner.

Because it's falsely believed to be medically beneficial. It's a barbaric practice and should be stopped.
